Suspects
Clinton Clark was pulled over in his blue and white truck while driving along Seattle's main strip, the same color and type of truck described by Susan Widmark and Debra Estes where they accepted the strangers ride and the strange then pulling out a pistol to her head. The stranger violently forced both Susan Widmark and Debra Estes to do sexually acts on him. A background check was done on Clark and detectives discovered that he was the owner of two handguns. Widmark and Estes, both identified Clark as their attacker, he was arrested and his house and vehicle were searched. Clark went through interrogation and admitted to attacking the women. Since Clark was known for releasing his victims after the attacks and he had a solid alibi during the time of when many of the Green River victims disappeared.
Detective Reichart began to suspect that one of the volunteer civilians working on the Green River Killer case was evidently the killer. Detective Reichart believed it to be a 44 year old out of work taxi driver. The taxi driver seemed to fit the standards of the Green River Killer: confident, impulsive, middle aged, familiar with the area and had deep religious convictions. The taxi driver became the main suspect of the killings and would be heavily monitored by the police. He was arrested for unpaid parking tickets, while in prison the murders of the Green River Killer continued leading to the result of the taxi driver as of the suspect list.
Two criminals in a San Francisco jail confessed to the Green River murders, but the confessions where false.
A man described by investigators as "a person of interest" was brought into the police station and searched in February of 1986. After the task force extensively questioned the new suspect, they soon realized he was not the man they were looking for and he was released.
